Google Analytics with Designer

Support > Designer > Use

To enable Google Analytics for the desinger, follow these steps:

1. Google Account

The use of «Google Analytics» requires that you have a Google Account. In addition to the Analytics Tool, Google offers other services that can all be managed with a central account. Type https://www.google.at/analytics in your browser line. Then click on «Login» or the large orange button with the text «Create account» below the search form. If you already have a Google Account, for example if you're using GMail, go straight to point 3. If you don't have a Google Account yet, please see point 2.

2. Create account

Click on the «Create account» link below the login form. Registration for the «Google Analytics» service requires that you have a Google Account. Fill in the required fields. Enter your first name, last name and email address (private or business email) that you want to use for your Google Account and choose a password. Choose a secure password that you use only for your Google Account. Confirm this password again. Enter your date of birth and type the text displayed above in the confirmation prompt. Attention: We recommend that you enter the correct date of birth. Be careful not to enter an incorrect date of birth. Otherwise, Google's login process may be blocked or password recovery may be difficult. As an option, you can also enter a mobile phone number. In this case, the telephone confirmation (confirmation code by SMS) may be required. You can decide for yourself if you want to provide Google your mobile phone number. We tend to advise against it.

Choose your location (usually Austria).

Accept Google's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Click on the blue button «Next step» to complete your registration. You will now receive an email from Google with a confirmation link to the email address you provided. Check your email inbox, it may take a few minutes to receive this email. Click on the confirmation link in the email to activate your new account.

The welcome page appears. Click on the blue button «Back to Google Analytics». Alternatively, type the following link in your browser line again: https://www.google.at/analytics.

3. Login

Sign in with your Google Account (email and password). Then click on the «Login» (Sign-up) button in the grey box. Now sign in with your Google Account to the «Google Analytics» service. You can understand this as a sign up for a service within the entire Google offering. Then click on the «Login» (Sign-up) button in the grey box.

Fill in the form fields as follows:

  • What do you want to capture (Website | Mobile App)?: Choose Website.
  • Account name: Choose a name for the account. You can also choose the name of your domain here.
  • Name of the website: Choose a name for your website: e. g. My new page.
  • Website-URL: Enter the URL of your (future) website: z.B. mynewsite.com
  • Industry category: Select an industry.
  • Time zone: Choose the right time zone (usually Austria).
  • Data sharing settings: As a rule, we recommend to remove all checkmarks.

Click on the blue button «Get Tracking-ID» and accept the Google Analytics Terms of Use by clicking on «I agree».

4. Website-Tracking

Copy the TrackingID starting with «UA-XXXXXXXXX-X» under «Website Tracking» and paste it in your designer under the menu item «Page settings» - «Google Analytics».

After one day at the latest, you should find all information about visitors on your website. You may still need to confirm the ownership of the domain. If this is the case, you can do so as described in the following link from step 2 onwards.
